The Peculiarities of Left-Handed Senior Preschoolers’ Self-Concept

Abstract

The aim of this article is to reveal the peculiarities of personal sphere of the left-handed senior preschoolers, especially their self-concept. Methods. The authors of the article use Vildavsky's test to determine a response hand; they also use G. A. Uruntaeva's and Yu. A. Afonkina's methods and Yu. E. Aleshina’s technique of mediated study of self-concept to determine the peculiarities of self-concept. Results. The experimental research shows that the low level of left-handed senior preschoolers’ self-concept occurs more than three times in comparison with right-handed. It reveals criticism more of self-qualities appraisal, attribution oneself less positive characteristics, more conscious appraisal. Conclusion. Left-handed senior preschoolers have personal sphere peculiarities, which appear both in level of self-concept and in its’ content.
