Xxxxxx Xxxxx, MD, PhD, DSc, Professor, Corr. Member of RAMS, Honored Scientist of Russia, Director, V. A. Negovsky Scientific Research Institute of General Reanimatology, RAMS
Xxxxxx Xxxxx was born October 14, 1937 in Rostov-on-Don. In 1961 he graduated from the Military Medical Academy. SM Kirov, and in 1965 - internship at the department of hospital surgery. In 1969 he defended his PhD thesis "The volume of circulating blood and its components for surgical lung diseases and their surgical treatment." From 1967 to 1996 he worked in the Burdenko Military Clinical Hospital as a senior resident of anesthesiology, chief of the laboratory for circulatory support and artificial oxygenation, laboratories of detoxification and resuscitation. In 1994 he defended his second (DSc) thesis on "The Paths for hypoxia correction in critical illness." In 1995 he was elected as a professor of anesthesiology and resuscitation in I.M. Sechenov Moscow Medical Academy. Same year according to recommendation by prof. VA Negovsky, prof. Moroz was elected a director of the Institute of General Reanimatology of Russian Academy of Medical Sciences. In 2005 he became a the Head of the department of anesthesiology and intensive care in Moscow Medical Stomatological Academy MSMSU (second appointment). Currently he successfully holds both positions.
The main prof. V.V.Moroz scientific activities include the study of the pathogenesis and clinical features, developing of modern methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of of critical and terminal conditions, various forms of hypoxia, shock, sepsis, endotoxemia, organ failure, developing and clinical evaluation of original perfluorocarbons for biomedical purposes. Ye made a significant imput in studies of pathogenesis of combat trauma. He suggested, developed and introduced into clinical practice novel types of extracorporeal oxygenation in which the world's first fluorocarbon oxygenator was employed to treat critically ill patients. A new class of drugs (Perftoran) with the gas transmission and cytoprotective functions based on perfluorocarbons was employed . Prof. Moroz remains one of the pioneers of studies on the role of genetic factors and biorhythms in critical illness developing. His research area include developing the sorption detoxification, plasmapheresis, ultrafiltration based methods for treatment of acute respiratory failure, algorithms of infusion-transfusion therapy and parenteral and enteral nutrition in critical and terminal states. He inspired and supervised developing and clinical implementation of fluorocarbon oxygenators, the blood substitute with gas transmission function based on a perfluorocarbon "Perftoran". For studies "Creating perfluorocarbon media for managing the vital functions of cells, organs and body" V.V.Moroz and the group of authors in 1999 were awarded with the prize of the Russian Government. In 2002 he won the first National Award “Best doctors in Russia”.
Xxxxxx Xxxxx significantly contributed to the research and clinical development in the areas of anesthesiology-reanimatology and resuscitation in a military medicine and disaster medicine as a direct participant in the liquidation of medical consequences of events in Afghanistan, Armenia, Chechnya, Chernobyl and other disasters. Prof. V.V. Moroz has published more than 600 scientific works including monographs, chapters in textbooks, books, papers, materials of congresses, symposiums, national and international forums, newsletters, guidelines and clinical instructions. Under V.V.Moroz’ guidance and consultations about 50 theses were defended.
In March 2000, prof. Moroz was elected as a corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he is a member of the Bureau of Medical Branch of The Academy. Since 1999 he is also an academician and a member of the Presidium of the Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences of Russia. For many years prof. V.V.Moroz continuouslyhas been serving as a leader of the Russian Society of Anesthesiology and Reanimatology, Federation for Anesthesiology and Emergency Medicine in Russia (MNOAR) being today a honorary member of these societies.
Currently, Prof. Xxxxxx Xxxxx is a Director of V.A.Negovsky Research Institute for General Reanimatology, Chairman of the Academic Council of the Institute, Chairman of Problem Academic Commissions "Extreme and terminal condition" and "Hypoxia critical states," a member of the expert council Attestation Commission of Russian Federation and Pharmacological Committee of the Ministry of Public Health, member of the editorial boards of "Anesthesiology and Intensive Care," "Journal of "Resuscitation, intensive care, anesthesiology, " " Blood Service Bulletin of Russia, “Journal of Critical Care "," Neuroscience: theoretical and clinical aspects ". Since 2005 he become the Editor-in-Chief of the journal “General reanimatology”. In 2013 Dr.Moroz was elected as a President of a Society for Shock Studies in Russia (SSSR), which joined the International Federation of Shock Societies in 2014.
From 2008 to 2010 prof. Moroz served as the Major Anaesthetist in the Ministry of Public Health, Russia. Viktor Moroz is President of the National Council on Resuscitation, honorary member and member of the Presidium of the European Resuscitation Council, a honorary member of the Slovak Scientific Medical Society of Anesthesiologists.
