Abstract
Aim. To consider the problem of highlighting the less studied aspects of this grammatical phenomenon in the English language, namely, in the light of the use of indirect transitive verbs in passive constructions, as well as the possibility of transforming the verb in the real voice into the passive voice. Methods. Analysis of scientific linguistic literature, generalization and interpretation of empirical data, observation of the educational process at the university. Result. Identification of the specifics of the functioning of the passive voice in the English language. Conclusion. In the study of the transformation of the real voice into the passive voice, verbs were divided into four groups depending on their syntactic connection with the complement. The study showed that the cases of transformation into the passive voice of verbs controlling one prepositional complement, as well as verbs controlling one prepositional complement, are noted with the greatest frequency in use.
