Abstract
Aim. The paper discusses the reasons for the low academic performance of students in the discipline "Biophysics and medical equipment" in medical universities in Russia. One of these reasons, which should be paid special attention to, is the very low level of motivation of students to study this discipline.
Methods. The research is based on the analysis of scientific and methodological literature and own work experience at the university, monitoring the educational process, evaluating the results of educational activities.
Results. All medical biophysics, studying such biophysical factors and processes occurring in the human body under their influence, together with the physical quantities characterizing both the body itself and its tissues, should be focused on paying special attention to both normal (value) and abnormal (anti-value) processes and values.
Conclusion. The proposed method of increasing motivation for studying general theoretical academic subjects in special educational institutions is proposed to be called a motivational-value or cognitive-axiological approach.
