The Role of Emotional Intelligence in the Study of the Russian Language and Academic Performance of Students

Abstract

Aim. The article analyzes the role of emotional intelligence in the study of the Russian language and the academic performance of male students.

Methods. While doing the work, 100 students filled in took the questionnaire Bar-Оn-intelligence (EQ-i.). EQ-i contains 133 items in the form of short sentences and uses a 5-point response scale. Correlations between EQ and reading, listening, speaking, writing and grade point average were then calculated.

Results. Found that there was a significant correlation between test subjects' achievement and stress management, adaptability, reading skills and stress management, general mood and adaptability, language skills and emotional intelligence quotient, and intrapersonal intelligence and stress management.

Conclusion. Emotional intelligence plays an important role in the study of the Russian language and student performance in the process of learning the language is associated with this factor. Educators should work to increase emotional intelligence.
